Happy Cinco de Mayo! While many will be celebrating, it's also a crucial time for businesses to remain vigilant against potential cybersecurity threats. Holidays often see a rise in online activity, which unfortunately can be exploited by cybercriminals. To help safeguard your business during this time, here are five key cybersecurity reminders for you and your employees.

1)Remind employees about phishing scams: With increased online activity around holidays, remind your team to be extra vigilant about suspicious emails or messages related to Cinco de Mayo deals or events. Encourage them to double-check sender addresses and avoid clicking on unfamiliar links or attachments.

2) Secure your business network: Ensure your business Wi-Fi is password-protected and consider using a VPN for remote access if employees are celebrating or working remotely. This helps protect sensitive business data from potential threats on less secure networks.

3) Monitor online activity: Keep an eye on your business's online presence and social media accounts for any unusual activity or potential scams impersonating your brand during the holiday.

4) Review access controls: If your business will have reduced staffing, ensure that access to sensitive systems and data is appropriately limited to essential personnel.

5) Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA): Ensure MFA is enabled for all critical business accounts, including email, cloud services, and internal systems. This adds an extra layer of security, making it significantly harder for unauthorized individuals to gain access even if they 1 have compromised a password.
